David brings a wealth of experience and a diverse background in working with our clients.
He spent 25 years working in his family’s business taking it through 2 transitions and culminating in the sale of the business to new ownership that still serves the Baton Rouge community as it has for over 50 years.
David decided that he wanted to work with business owners to help them navigate through transitions to long term sustainability. He noticed a void in the advisor world in the failings of most advisors to understand the human and relationship system and work to resolve the issues that lay beneath the surface.
David knew that this would require a long journey of self discovery and professional development. He took 4 years to get some of the best technical training available for advisors serving business owners in estate, financial, insurance and investment planning. He then left that world to pursue his passion of learning how to navigate the complexities in working with privately-held businesses and their stakeholders. He has spent the last 15 years developing the skills and competencies necessary to work effectively in the different situations and circumstances encountered.
This evolutionary journey of working with diverse businesses, their stakeholders and families brings a fresh perspective and a mindset of asking what is possible, seeking to understand what the dreams and aspirations are and where do you want to be in the next 5 years. He is forward looking with one eye on the past.
David is a native of Baton Rouge and a graduate of Louisiana State University with a degree in business and marketing. He has been active in the communities where he lived. David spent over 25 years in Rotary and was on the board of the Baton Rouge club, was on the board of Family Debt Counselors, ArtReach, Sewall Child Development Center and the Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce. He was a cubmaster in The Boys Scouts of America and participated in United Way campaigns.
He is blessed with Karen, a loving wife of over 38 years and 3 sons, Brian, Drew and James, who have their own successful lives.
James and Anna have David and Karen’s 2 grandsons, which they adore.
