When I was 61, a manager of mine told me I did a terrific job of explaining social media to our clients. He then asked me if I had ever thought of helping others in my baby boomer age group to understand social media.
That’s the day I figured out what I was supposed to do when I grew up! I created my business Boomers’ Social Media Tutor and registered it in the fall of 2010.
Initially, I provided social media tutoring services while working at my “day” job. In March of 2013 I retired from that job and went full time with my business.
Prior to starting my business, I worked as a health educator, nonprofit agency director, office manager for my church, and then spent 17 years in the field of sales. My last position in sales was as an enrollment advisor with the College for Financial Planning.
I provide personalized social media tutoring and training to small business owners, business development professionals, job seekers, nonprofit organization leaders, and others who want to be more effective and productive in their use of such social media sites as Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter.
Though I serve clients of all ages, I particularly people age 45 and up are the ones most likely to use my services.
My tutoring, training and speaker services are available both in person and virtually.
I’ve been a member of the STAR-Denver Board of Directors since January 2019 and currently serve as the chair of the Membership Committee.
My other business organization leadership roles include
- Founding member of the Denver Area Business to Business Networking Group and currently president of its RiNo chapter.
- Chapter host of the Lakewood chapter of the Alternative Business Networking Group
- Coordinator of the Lakewood-based Entrepreneurs R Us Leads Group
- Founder and organizer of the Simplify Your Social Media Meetup Group
In addition, I’ve been active in Toastmasters (an international organization that helps members improve their communication and leadership skills) for over 20 years and have held leadership positions from the club level to the multi-state level. I’m president of one of my clubs and vice president of education for another one of my clubs.
