When I was 61, a manager of mine told me I did a terrific job of explaining social media to our clients. He then asked me if I had ever thought of helping others in my baby boomer age group to understand social media.
That’s the day I figured out what I was supposed to do when I grew up! I created my business Boomers’ Social Media Tutor and registered it in the fall of 2010.
Initially, I provided social media tutoring services while working at my “day” job. In March of 2013 I retired from that job and went full time with my business.
Prior to starting my business, I worked as a health educator, nonprofit agency director, office manager for my church, and then spent 17 years in the field of sales. My last position in sales was as an enrollment advisor with the College for Financial Planning.
I provide personalized social media tutoring and training to small business owners and others who want to be more effective and productive in their use of such social media sites as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter.
Though I serve clients of all ages, I particularly assist people ages 45 and up. I find the Boomers between 50 and 60 and the older Gen Xers are especially drawn to using my services.
I work with business owners, business development professionals, leaders of nonprofit groups, job seekers, and more.
I am the Co-Chair of the Planning Committee for the Business Owners Peer Group of the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce and have been a member of CWCC since the fall of 2013. Other leadership roles include serving as one of the leaders for the Alternative Business Networking Group and as co-facilitator of the independent leads group Entrepreneurs R Us. I am also a founding member of the RiNo Business to Business Networking Group.
In addition, I’ve been active in Toastmasters (an international organization that helps members improve their communication and leadership skills) for over 20 years and have held leadership positions at a multi-state level.
